Aerial Yoga

Aerial yoga is a playful combination of classical yoga and aerial acrobatics. We let gravity help us to find the right dose of strength, flexibility, balance, ease and relaxation. Aerial yoga gives you the chance to experience asanas in a different way and sometimes to try totally new poses; backbends and inversions are a particular focus of aerial yoga classes.

Once you have taken part in the introductory aerial yoga workshop on a Sunday (SUNDAY SPECIAL), you’ll be able to take part in regular classes.

There is only a limited number of slings (10) available per class, so you are required to register beforehand. Contact me to find out if there is a spot free this week (contact me).

Come fly with me!

Aerial yoga classes cost 2 points / 4 Euro extra.

How does Aerial Yoga work?

  • Strengthens AND relaxes muscles.
  • Stimulates your sense of balance.
  • Improves mindfulness and your sense of self.
  • Deep stretches and relaxation thanks to the effects of gravity.
  • Traditional asanas can be held for longer and/or more intensely, or are made possible in the first place.
  • Decompression of the spine and stress relief for joints – aerial yoga helps to avoid detrimental stress to the back and neck in the more challenging poses.
  • Self-confidence and fun combined with movement and relaxation.

Safety first… Aerial yoga slings are made out of high quality nylon similar to that used by artists in shows like Cirque du Soleil. In order to keep our slings in good condition for as long as possible, please take note of the following instructions:

  • Clothing: please wear a top that covers your armpits and pants that cover your knees; do not wear clothing with buttons, zips or Velcro in order to prevent damage to the slings.
  • For the same reasons, take your jewellery off before class – watches and hair grips can get caught in the sling.
  • As little make-up as possible.
  • Clean hands and feet (a pair of socks helps!).
  • Don’t forget your yoga mat, if you have one.

And in general…

  • Eat your last meal around 2 hours before class to help prevent queasiness.
  • Please listen closely to the instructions and explanations – correct technique is essential for your safety!

As gentle as the exercises in the sling can be, if you are ill or injured, please ask your doctor what you can and cannot do. This is particularly important if you have:

  • acute spinal injuries,
  • coronary or circulatory illnesses,
  • high intraocular pressure.

If you are not sure whether you can take part in an aerial yoga class for health reasons (e.g. if you are pregnant or menstruating heavily), ask me first!
